By donating blood, you’re helping patients needing blood transfusions for challenging procedures and treatments – chemotherapy, heart surgery, serious burns, organ transplant, critical injuries, sickle cell disease, and more. Blood transfusions are one of the most common procedures in hospitals and volunteer donors are the only source. To save lives and make sure blood is there when it’s needed, taking an hour to give blood for the first time or as a regular habit is crucial.
